Kia made waves on Friday with the launch of the much-anticipated Sonet facelift in India, introducing an enticing pricing spectrum ranging from ₹7.99 lakh to ₹15.69 lakh. The standout feature of the Sonet facelift is the incorporation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), giving it a significant edge over its counterparts in the sub-compact SUV segment.
Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer at Kia India, emphasized the brand’s commitment to providing substantial value for money. He stated, “We are adding a substantial value-for-money proposition at the back of a low maintenance and a top-tier safety proposition with the most advanced ADAS technology.”
Variety and Pricing
Kia is presenting the Sonet facelift in an impressive array of 19 variants organized into three distinct trim lines: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line. Prospective buyers can secure their Sonet facelift with a token amount of ₹25,000, with deliveries set to commence later this month. However, it’s essential to note that the initial prices are promotional and applicable for a limited time, after which they might undergo revision.
Powertrain Options
The South Korean automaker is offering three engine options for the Sonet facelift. These include a 1.2-litre petrol motor generating 81 bhp of maximum power and 115 Nm peak torque, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm, and a 1.5-litre CRDi unit with 114 bhp and 250 Nm.
Feature-rich Interior
In terms of features, the Sonet facelift boasts a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen infotainment unit of the same size, climate control panel, drive modes, traction control, a 360-degree camera, cooled front seats, a Bose audio system, leatherette upholstery, and a sunroof.
Safety First
In addition to ADAS, safety is a top priority for the Sonet facelift, equipped with six airbags, hill start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and electronic stability control (ESC). Notably, these safety features are standard across all variants.
Taking on the Competition
Positioned to compete fiercely in the market, the Sonet facelift is set to challenge rivals such as Brezza (Maruti Suzuki), Nexon (Tata), Venue (Hyundai), and XUV400 (Mahindra). With its advanced technology, diverse variants, and competitive pricing, Kia’s Sonet facelift is poised to make a significant impact in the sub-compact SUV segment.
