The security levels in Ayodhya have been heightened due to potential threats ahead of the grand opening ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22. The alert was issued in response to information from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), indicating a potential security breach.
Increased Security Measures
The Uttar Pradesh police has deployed approximately 12,000 personnel in and around Ayodhya following the new threats. In addition to manpower, they have also incorporated Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance threat monitoring.
“MHA has dispatched a high-level cybersecurity expert team to Ayodhya in preparation for the Pran Pratistha event,” a senior official told NDTV.
Integrated Control Rooms
Integrated control rooms have been established, where various agencies are monitoring threats in real-time. This marks the first time that security agencies will utilize AI surveillance systems to identify suspicious activities and track down potential threats.
AI Surveillance Systems
Prashant Kumar, Director General of Law and Order of the Uttar Pradesh police, shared, “We have installed about 10,000 CCTV cameras in and around Ayodhya city. Out of these, about 400 are in the vicinity of the shrine and in the yellow zone. The yellow zone is where we are using AI for facial recognition for the first time.”
Uttar Pradesh’s criminal database is being uploaded to the portals to assist AI in recognizing and matching criminals.
“The AI-based CCTV surveillance system will also help in detecting frequent visitors or any common trend followed by a group of people while visiting the temple premises,” Mr. Kumar added.
Inauguration Ceremony
PM Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and various other dignitaries are expected to attend the Ram Temple inauguration ceremony in Ayodhya on Monday.
The rituals for the temple consecration began on January 12, with PM Modi slated to perform the puja for the “Pran Pratistha’ on January 22. A team of priests led by Lakshmikant Dixit will oversee the main rituals of the Pran Prathistha.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the security alert issued for the grand opening ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has led to the deployment of 12,000 personnel and the use of Artificial Intelligence for monitoring and threat detection. The implementation of AI-based CCTV surveillance systems and the uploading of Uttar Pradesh’s criminal database will aid in identifying suspicious activities and ensuring the safety of the event. With Prime Minister Modi and other dignitaries scheduled to attend the ceremony, the heightened security measures reflect the significance of the event and the efforts to ensure its peaceful and successful execution.
